Buffet Reveal

As promised, I have some photos to share with you today!

Yesterday I posted about stripping the paint off the top of this buffet.

I tried to go shopping yesterday to find some accessories, but I had no success.

So that will have to wait, but the buffet is finished.

Here it is:

I think it turned out great!

The photos make it look really white, but it is more of a creamy white.

I am loving the wood top as well.

I am so glad I decided to strip off the paint! :)

I love the details on this thing!

I distressed the white by sanding it.

Not gonna lie, it was sorta tough to sand off the fresh paint I had just labored to put on.

I really liked the original hardware so I decided to keep it.

I think it contrasts nicely with the white and it is the same color as the top now so it works out perfectly!

I think the legs on this buffet are so beautiful!

I really LOVE the way the wood looks with the white :)

There is a problem though.

As understanding as my husband is when it comes to my design schemes, there is one thing he will never give up.

His TV has to be in the living room on full display.

I'm a practical person and I like to watch TV so I understand the need for the TV to be in the room.

However, it is a giant black thing that isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing to look at when it's not being watched.

Anyways the TV happens to be mounted directly above the buffet

Basically, I need to find the perfect accessories to put on top of the buffet on either side of the TV to help this look better.

So I need ideas please! The more ideas the better so please leave me comments on what would make this look better. :)

You could put a white wooden curtain rod above the TV add cafe curtains with white wooden rings and pull them closed to hide the TV. You could also add old shutters, painted white to the side. Nice job on the buffet!
Cheers,
Rita

Just beautiful! How about flowers in various creamy white vases/jars? To tone down the TV and separate the blacks. Great job!

You did an absolutely awesome job on the buffet! It's beautiful! I think you could put sconces on either side of the TV and then find some apothecary jars to place on the buffet. You could also put a bowl full of goodies on top (because it wouldn't interfere with the TV).

That has to be the prettiest buffet I have ever seen. Your tv area is an almost duplicate of mine...but my buffet is red and holds all of our dvd/gaming stuff. Maybe decorative things that go on the sides of things, on the wall. Freak...I can't think of the word right now. I have some on the sides of a painting...and they hold a candle and they are iron. Anyway...my brain is dead...but alive enough to know your project is beautiful!

Congratulations Jenna!! I just came over from White Flower Farmhouse where she announced that you're the winner of the Tricia Foley book giveaway. I'm so jealous...I wanted that book!! :)
Your buffet looks great...you did a great job! What an amazing transformation!! You could try building a simple surround that sits on top of your buffet and goes around your TV. Paint out the surround to match your buffet. You might even be able to find a vintage piece that would work. Then you could just put a pretty curtain up using a tension rod to hide the TV. When you want to watch the TV, you just open the curtains. :)
Whatever you do, I'm sure it will turn out beautiful! Have fun with your decorating!
Hope you have a great day!! :) ~ Jo

Very nice job on the buffet. About the TV, I once saw on a decorating show where they put a frame around the TV and then had a picture that went up an down by remote control. You could do a manual version of the same thing. You could use a cloth roller shade inside the frame using gingerbread on the inside of the frame to echo the lines on your buffet to hide the roller mechanism. You cold decorate the shade using transfer paper and art from your computer to make a picture, or a quilt, what ever your imagination can dream up!

Beautiful! Love what you did to the buffet. How about a couple buffet lamps to put on either side and then a few decorative items to add a splash of color from your room.

My suggestion is to put Glass Apathecary Jars with lids on the table. they could be various heights on each side with the taller one and shorter, fatter ones in the middle if you want more of them. Fill with Fruit or use dried peas to fill half way and maybe put a candle in it. that way you can light the candles with the tv on or off! Great Job!
